EndNote

Getting started with EndNote

EndNote is a reference management software package, also known as bibliographic software, which enables to:

  • Create a personal database of relevant references, along with associated files.
  • Insert references into a Word document and format them automatically in a preferred citation style.
  • De-duplicate references retrieved from multiple sources.
  • Share references with others.

To identify references you are advised first to search using Explore or bibliographic databases and then use EndNote to organise your references. For guidance on searching for references, see our Searching for Information guide.

Clarivate, the company which produces EndNote provides EndNote training videos, a good introduction to using the software. You can also work through this guide, which is based on EndNote Desktop for Windows, using the navigation menu.
