Searching online resources from within EndNote

You can search a number of online resources from within EndNote. Searching online databases via EndNote is a good way to get specific references into your library quickly.

In the left side menu pane, you might already have some resources such as PubMed or Web of Science saved in the group set Online Search.

If the resource you wish to search is displayed, click on it.

To see other resources to search, click on more… at the bottom of your Online Search group. Alternatively go to the Tools menu and select Online Search to select from a list of databases/catalogues. Not all databases will work, please see the note at the bottom of this page for more details. 

• When you select an online resource to carry out a search, the Search panel will be automatically displayed in the upper middle section of your screen.
• Enter your search criteria and then click on Search.
• The results retrieved will be displayed.
• Select the references you want to add to your library by checking the box to the left side of the reference.
• Then click the plus icon above the search results to add the selected online records to your local library.
• They will now appear in the Recently Added group and All References.
